Cuban Council Did
Backend Concept Design Frontend IA Identity
It's not exactly a well-kept secret that the cuban councillors in the New York office are big fans of the Steven Alan retail brand - I mean, what's there not to like about the Reverse Seam Shirt, perfect for those "I worked all night, yet still want to look good without going home to change my clothes" types of mornings that have always been a hallmark of our industry.
So when Steven Alan called & asked whether we'd be interested in working on the next version of their website – we have a feeling it might have had something to do with the numerous trips we made to their store (all in the name of "potential research") – the cheers of huzzah were heard far & wide.
The first step? Re-architect the entire website experience from the ground up with the help of the smart folks over at Shopigniter.
In were a slew of new features including customized product views & enhanced merchandising tools, an "Inside Steven Alan" section allowing for direct communication about what's going on in the stores, behind the scenes and within the larger design community, and, of course, a heaping helping of social goodness meant to easily allow the customers to share their love for the brand.
Out were ... anything we found lacking.
Once the foundation was in place, it was a matter of bringing the canvas to life – inspiration was found in the clean, minimal aesthetic that suffuses the Steven Alan stores and the stark & sharp product photography that's synonymous with their brand.
In the end, it really is all about the clothes ... well, that and our firm belief that buying them should be just as enjoyable as wearing them.
